Apply Now for a Spot in the Urbandale Citizen Fire Academy

Want to gain a better understanding of what the job of an Urbandale firefighter is? Apply to be a part of this citizen class in 2013.

The Urbandale Fire Department is taking applications for its annual Citizen Fire Academy, according to a news release.

This program is designed to give Urbandale residents a clearer understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the fire department in the community. Participants of the program will learn how the Urbandale Fire Department provides community services to its customers, the release said.

The Citizen Fire Academy will meet once a week for eight weeks. The program will be on Thursday nights between 6 and 10 p.m. starting March 28. An orientation night will be held on March 21.

Applications to participate in the Citizen Fire Academy can be downloaded from the City of Urbandale’s website and the application is attached to this story. Participants must be at least 18 years old to participate in the Academy. Applications must be received by Friday, Jan. 25.
