Carnegie Hall-bound singers to perform at Union Park United Methodist Church on June 22

Start spreading the news . . . 

            Jennifer Shide of Urbandale and her intrepid group of singers will present their Carnegie Hall Preview Concert 4 p.m., Sunday, June 22, 2014, at Union Park Methodist Church, East 12th and Guthrie, Des Moines, Iowa.

            The singers, who range from age 7 to 74, will be perform a variety of numbers including works by Arnold Schoenberg, George Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Craig Courtney, Tom Fettke and a few surprises. A free-will offering will be taken, with proceeds going to support the ministries of the Union Park Methodist Church.

            The singers at the June 22 concert come from Des Moines, West Des Moines, Clive, Urbandale, Norwalk, Polk City, Cedar Rapids and Minneapolis. “Their love of music and craziness of spirit has brought them together for this wonderfully exciting event,” noted Shide.

            Shide and her singers will go to the Weill Recital Hall, one of the three performance venues at the world-renown Carnegie Hall in New York City on June 28. They will be joined by singers from Iowa City, Michigan and Massachusetts.

            To get to Union Park United Methodist Church, located in the eastern part of the Des Moines area, take Interstate-235 to the Guthrie Avenue exit (Exit 11). Go west over the viaduct and beyond East 14th Street to East 12th Street. The church is on the northeast corner of East 12th and Guthrie.
