Senior Citizens Honor Police, Firefighters on Anniversary of 9/11 Terrorist Attacks

Invitations to a BBQ lunch are being hand-delivered to police and fire stations. And there will be dessert.

On Wednesday, September 11, the 12th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon, an Urbandale retirement community is hosting a special outdoor lunch event to honor area firefighters and police officers.

Deerfield residents and staff see it as a great opportunity to serve them for a day and show their appreciation for the work they do, according to a press release.

Residents and staff are hand-delivering invitations to local fire and police stations inviting them to the BBQ-style lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. It will take place outside the community on the front lawn.
