Urbandale Residents to Join Iowans in Taking Steps Toward Better Health
Urbandale residents can join other Iowans in the Healthiest State Walk Initiative with a 1-kilometer hike around Lions Park or Lakeview Pond.
Residents of the Urbandale area will join with thousands of other Iowans on a 1 kilometer Healthiest State Walk on Wednesday, Oct. 9.
Local walkers will meet at 11:45 a.m. in front of the Urbandale Senior Recreation Center, 7305 Aurora Avenue for a “Walk Around the Park.”
There will be twp routes available; a walk around Lions Park, and a walk around Lakeview Pond. One kilometer is about 7.5 city blocks, a 12-15 minute stroll for the average walker. Participants will receive a water bottle and snack for the walk.

State organizers hope to continue the momentum of Iowa’s rise from 19th to 16th and one of the healthiest states in the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index.
