Patch's Best Ever Guide to Black Friday
If you're absolutely, positively determined to go to any length to get the best deals, this Patch guide can help.
Black Friday starts on Thursday this year. You can start shopping at 6 a.m. Thanksgiving morning and keep going until 10 p.m. Friday at the Jordan Creek Mall.
It lends a literal meaning to the expression "shop till you drop."
Here is a list of major chain retailers, compiled by BFAds.net, a website devoted to Black Friday adverising circulars. The website cautions that hours may vary slightly by locales and suggests you double check with your local store to confirm hours.

We've also included the hours for three major malls near metro Des Moines Patch towns. All three will have selected stores open at midnight.
Kmart: Open at 6 a.m. on Thanksgiving. Preview the Thanksgiving specials. Then open at 5 a.m. Friday. Preview the Black Friday deals.

Michaels: Open at 4 p.m. Thanksgiving. Preview the deals.
Toys R Us: Open at 9 p.m. Thanksgiving. Preview the deals.
Walmart: Black Friday starts at 10 p.m on Thanksgiving. Preview the deals.
Target: Open at midnight Thursday. Preview the deals.
Kohls: Open at midnight Thanksgiving. Preview the deals.
JC Penney: Open 4 a.m. Friday. Preview the deals.
Sears: Open at 4 a.m. Friday. Preview the deals.
Gordmans: Open at 5 a.m. Friday. Preview the deals.

Malls: If you want the most selection at midnight, Jordan Creek Town Center might be your best bet, where all stores are open at midnight, but Valley West and Merle Hay malls are looking to entice shoppers with some sweet giveaways.
Merle Hay Mall: Main East entrance doors open at 11:30 p.m. Thanksgiving. Selected stores are open at midnight and all stores in the mall are open by 4 a.m. Friday.
Free stuff (beginning at 4 a.m): Water bottles and pastries. The first 200 shoppers after 4 a.m. receive a free gift.
Register for prizes: A 37" TV, snowblower, grill, Xbox 360, Kindle Fire and more. Where to register.
Valley West Mall: Selected stores will open at midnight on Thanksgiving. The entire mall will open at 4 a.m. Friday.
Free stuff: The first 1,000 shoppers in the lower level of Von Maur Court at 4 a.m. will receive Valley West Mall backpack with coupons to mall stores.
Prizes: Chances to win a new Apple iPad and other prizes.
Jordan Creek Town Center: Mall opens at one minute after midnight on Thanksgiving and is open until 10 p.m. Friday.
