Art camp at the Ankeny Art Center will provide children with hands-on experience in a variety of materials. In addition to learning art techniques, our classes provide opportunities for students to improve interpersonal, problem-solving, and team-related skills. Lessons are designed to encourage creativity and promote individual expression.

ART EXPLORATION CAMP
Your child will use a variety of media in 2D and 3D for this project based class. Children will explore varied art techniques and traditions, which will give your child a solid base for branching out their artistic pursuits. Let your child explore their creativity in this relaxed and nurturing environment!
GRADES K-4: 9-10am | GRADES K-4: 10-11am | GRADES 5-8: 11-NOON
DRAWING CAMP
Children will learn the mechanics of drawing to develop their own one-of-a-kind artwork. Your child will discover different artistic styles, drawing tools and special techniques as they develop their unique creations. Drawing is a critical foundation with most art forms and we strive to make this class an encouraging and invaluable approach to creative drawing!
GRADES K-4: 1pm-2pm | GRADES 5-8: 2pm-3pm
POTTERY HAND-BUILDING CAMP
In this exciting project based class, your child will learn a variety of hand-building techniques while working with clay. Your child will love rolling out the clay, pressing stamps and creating sculptures! Students will explore sculpture and glazing, as well as making functional pottery.
GRADES K-4: 9-10am | GRADES K-4: 10-11am
GRADES K-4: 11-NOON | GRADES 5-8: 1-2pm
POTTERY WHEEL CAMP
Your child will learn the basics of working on the potters wheel which includes: wedging, centering, and creating a bowl. Children will also work on other creative projects and learn about firing and glazing. This is one of our most popular classes, so sign-up early to ensure a seat!

Summer Art Camp at the Ankeny Art Center is a truly fun and dynamic summer experience that will spark creativity, engagement, exploration and individual expression. The programs we've built welcome each child as a unique individual bursting with potential. We hope you'll join us for Summer Art Camp 2014! Classes may be repeated if desired or take a different class each week.
