Domestic Abuse, Car Theft: Urbandale Police Blotter

The Urbandale arrests below are preliminary criminal charges. They do not represent convictions or court resolutions. 

 June 24: Kristopher B. Slater, 40, Urbandale, was charged with simple domestic abuse and obstruction of emergency communication. Slater is accused of grabbing his girlfriend around the neck and chocking her, according to police reports. The incident happened at their home in the 3200 block of 68th Street. When she got free and tried to dial 911, Slater allegedly knocked the phone out of her hand.

June 26: Johnny L. Hellems, 19, of Des Moines, was charged with second-degree auto theft/possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
