Update: Urbandale Teen Dies After SUV-Semi Crash on I-80

A 17-year-old Urbandale has died after a three vehicle crash on Interstate 80 on Tuesday morning.
Rodrigo Lopez, 17, of Urbandale, was driving an SUV that was struck and rolled into a ditch at around 9:40 a.m. near mile marker 134, according to a Des Moines Register report citing Iowa State Patrol reports.

Three cars were traveling eastbound, with one in the right lane and two in the center lane, troopers said. One of the cars in the middle lane tried merging into the right lane and was struck by a semi-truck already in that lane, witnesses told authorities. A second semi-truck was struck by debris from the crash causing minor damage.
