Walk in a Cop's Shoes at Citizen's Police Academy

Residents and business leaders in Urbandale are eligible to apply for the academy, which teaches how to work a crime scene and allows class members to ride along with Urbandale police officers.

From a News Release:

The Urbandale Police Department is accepting applications for the fourth annual Citizen’s Police Academy, slated to start in January 2014.

The class is designed to teach all aspects of law enforcement and will include a mock traffic stop, work a mock crime scene and ride along with Urbandale police officers.

Applicants must be able to attend a minimum of 10 of the 12 classes, which will be held on Thursday evenings. A couple of Saturday morning sessions are planned as well.

Requirements are that the applicant must be an Urbandale resident or Urbandale businessperson operating in Urbandale. Applicants must pass a background check.
