When Will Urbandale Hold Its Spring Cleanup 2013?

Get ready for a little spring cleaning in Urbandale.

With temperatures still on the chilly side, spring seems like years away.

But the City of Urbandale is already gearing up for spring.

The city's annual Spring Cleanup is scheduled for April 15 to April 18.

During that week, the city will pick up items that are not normally collected through weekly trash services.

All yard waste items must be placed in a Compost It! bag or in a bundle with a Compost It! sticker.

Appliances being discarded must have a special sticker attached - the $15 sticker can be purchased at City Hall, 3600 86th Street.

Stickers are required on the following items:

  • Refrigerators
  • Trash compactors
  • Water heaters
  • Air conditioners
  • Freezers
  • Washers
  • Light ballasts
  • Humidifiers
  • Stoves
  • Dryers
  • Dishwashers
  • Microwaves
  • Dehumidifiers
  • Funaces


The following items will not be accepted:

  • Concrete
  • Bricks
  • Paint
  • Oil
  • Toxic, combustible or explosive materials
  • Railroad ties
  • Vehicle parts
  • Dirt or sod
  • Batteries
  • Large amounts of construction debris


For information on disposing of hazardous wastes contact Metro Waste Authority or call at 967-5512.

Tires are not accepted through pickup but residents can drop off up to five car or small truck tires to the Public Works Facility, 9401 Hickman Road from April 23-28. Tires can be on or off the rims.
