The school's "Be a Reading Rockstar" party is the second year Webster has done a big event to promote literacy, said Webster Principal Greg Carenza.

"The purpose of this evening is to promote the importance of literacy in all of our lives.  We strive to bring this message to our students and their families through a variety of fun, literacy based events," he said.

This year, the party starts with a free dinner for students and parents and staff. During dinner, families can shop at a school book fair to purchase books. Then at 6 p.m., Webster teachers and staff will present three 20-minute literacy information sessions that focus on important literacy skills.

Each student leaves Family Reading Night with a free book (no matter what) and many other literacy goodies. Parents leave with many new tips for how to work with their child in the area of reading.

Urbandale Patch -- because we're cool too -- will be there so check back in the morning for some rad party pics!
