Bowler from Urbandale a 'Big Name' at PBA Tournament This Weekend

Tom Hess, of Urbandale stands, out along with Jake Peters, of Decatur, IL, as the "big names" entered in the PBA Mike Jankovsky Allstate Agent Midwest Open.

An Urbandale man is one of the "big names" entered in a professional bowling tournament this weekend in Peoria, IL.

The Journal Star reports that the Professional Bowlers Association Midwest Regional tournament is being held at Landmark Lanes.

Tom Hess, of Urbandale stands, out along with Jake Peters, of Decatur, IL, as the "big names" entered in the competition. 

Hess won the 2011 USBC Masters championship. 

The early rounds of the PBA Mike Jankovsky Allstate Agent Midwest Open are on Saturday and the finals are on Sunday. 

Hess, 43, is originally from Indianola and now lives in Urbandale with his wife, Sue, and two children, Andrew and Megan, according to his website. The righty's resume includes 77 perfect games or 300 games. 

Hess was named the 2010-2011 PBA Midwest Region Player of the Year.
