A highly touted, and highly sought, tight end from West Des Moines Dowling has committed to play football at University of Iowa, he announced via his Twitter feed.
"Committed to the University of Iowa. Gonna be a Hawkeye next year! #blessed," Jon Wisnieski tweeted on Wednesday.
Wisnieski is a 6-5, 215-pound senior. He becomes the 16 committment for the class of 2013, according to the Gazette.
Rivals.com has him as a three-star prospect, while ESPN pegs him as a four-star recruit and the No. 8 senior tight end in the nation.
Wisnieski chose Iowa over several BCS schools, including Nebraska, Iowa State, Kansas State, Purdue and Ole Miss.
"It was not only big for the Hawkeyes to keep a good player at home, but the top-10 TE is also a good fit. He needs to keep filling out his frame, but displays the tools to develop into a good, well-rounded tight end," writes Craig Haubert of Recruiting Nation.
At Iowa, Wisnieski could be among seven tight ends that fall, the Gazette reports.
