What's Happening in Urbandale This Weekend?

Fun things to do with your family in Urbandale May 18-20.

Saturday will be a busy day near the and Walker Johnston Park.

  • You can still register for the first annual Mayor's Bike Ride through Urbandale. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. near the skate park in . The cost is $25 for individuals and $35 for families, which includes lunch and a T-shirt. There are three possible routes, said Mary Polson, program coordinator for Urbandale Community Action Network, which is sponsoring the event. Bicyclists can choose to ride 5-, 10- or 20-miles. 
  • At the Urbandale Library, civil war re-enactors will be camped out on the library lawn as part of the Urbandale Library's special presentation on the Civil War. Check the library website for details on the timing of photo opportunities, canon firing, musket firings and other military drills.
  • Sunday is Scout Appreciation Day at Living History Farms. Any Boy or Girl Scout wearing their sash or uniform, or who can present their membership card will be admitted free. (Leaders get free admission as well).
