The Urbandale business woman volunteers for the city's food pantry and Caring Corps.

PRESS RELEASE:

Jan. 31, 2012

"Jill Turner is the type of volunteer who does so many things for various organizations and never seeks any recognition. So, it is time to let everyone know all she does for our neighbors in need!" says Food Pantry Coordinator Eileen Boggess, nominator of this month's Volunteer Spotlight recipient.

Jill owns her own business, but still volunteers for many different charities in her free time.

In particular, she has been essential to the Urbandale Food Pantry where she has volunteered as the secretary on the UFP Steering Committee for the past three years. Jill also picks up bread from the West Des Moines Panera Bakery every other week and delivers it to the Urbandale Food Pantry.

She has been instrumental in planning various fund-raisers for the Urbandale Caring Corps and the Urbandale Food Pantry. Jill serves on the Urbandale Caring Corps committee and served as their secretary for the last two years. She organized the Caring Corps' Fall Clean-up for 2011 and was on-hand the day of the event to coordinate the volunteer assignments, moving volunteers to different locations to assure that all yard work was completed this year!

Congratulations to Jill Turner, the Urbandale Community Action Network's Spotlight Volunteer Award winner for January.

The UCAN Spotlight Volunteer award recognizes outstanding service to UCAN and thereby the community.
