Urbandale Food Pantry to Install Board of Directors

The food pantry, which began as part of Urbandale Community Action Network, is now its own non-profit. Volunteers are needed to serve on many committees.

The , which became its own non-profit on July 1, has announced the newly formed board of directors, according to a news release.

Directors are: Julie Fugenschuh, president; Kyle McGowan, vice president; Jolynn Soderberg, treasurer; Sue Koch, secretary; and members Pastor Steve Clinkscales, Cindy Morton, Megan Kruse, Jane Robinette, Bill Mech, Jill Turner and Pastor Michael Mudlaff.

These board members will be sworn in on Sept. 11, to one-, two- or three-year terms.

The Urbandale Food Pantry needs people to serve on the following committees: Finance, Human Resources, Facilities, Communication/Marketing, Development, Adopt-A-Family and Ad-Hoc. To sign up for a committee or to find out more information you can call Sue Koch at 276-8255.

The food pantry is a non-profit organization that provides food and personal care products for residents throughout the Des Moines area. This group is funded by the cities of Urbandale and Windsor Heights, as well as pledges by area churches and donations from citizens and community organizations.

The pantry offers a pre-sorted five-day supply of food and personal care items such as shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, laundry soap, toilet paper and sanitary napkins once every 30 days. Fresh produce and bread items are available daily.

Hours are: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday; 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday and Friday; and closed Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
