Police Make Arrests after Homeowner Allegedly Robbed at Gunpoint

A homeowner reportedly came home July 10 and interrupted a burglary in progress.

Urbandale police said in a news release Tuesday that they have arrested two suspects believed to be involved in a spate of daytime burglaries.

Arrested and charged with first-degree burglary and first-degree robbery were Leonel Najarro-Zamora, 21, and Eduardo Ontiveros, 20, both of Des Moines.

On July 10, a homeowner living in the 700 block of Roseland Drive interrupted a burglary in progress and was robbed at gunpoint, according to the release.

The suspects in the burglaries typically knocked or rang doorbells prior to making a forced entry, the release said.

Najarro-Zamora remains in Polk County Jail in lieu of $51,000 bond. He also has been charged with a marijuana violation, according to Polk County Jail records.

Ontiveros, who was also charged with probation violation, is in jail on a $50,000 bond.
